The Gaming Giant Hires Apex Legends Producer to Boost Challenged Action Game Ambitious Title

2K Games has welcomed a seasoned producer from the creators of Apex Legends to direct the studio crew at 31st Union, which is currently developing the anticipated third-person action-packed title known as this innovative game.

Leadership Shift Comes After Poor Reception

The new appointee assumes the role of studio head at the development studio following the dismissal of former leader the ex-Sledgehammer Games executive, who was reportedly let go due to the game's underwhelming early showing last autumn.

Recently, the company's top executive David Ismailer informed team members about this strategic move through an official communication, which highlighted that early feedback sessions had revealed the need for a distinct game identity.

The president stated that the team is now refining Project Ethos with a refreshed focus, aiming to better meet gamer demands.

Trend of Strategic Hires

This announcement follows a similar move taken by the publisher in the summer, when they recruited Rod Fergusson from the Diablo team to contribute to the beloved franchise studio Cloud Chamber.

Here is the full content from Ismailer's communication:

Dear Team—

I understand you all just wrapped up your town hall - I hope you’re as excited as I am with the recent updates. Previously I sent you all a message, I stated the following: “I am confident in this crew. You all are some of the most dedicated and talented designers we have had the opportunity to partner with - and we’re looking forward for that collaboration to endure.”

With your dedication and versatility, especially over the past twelve months, you continue to prove that.

The player input from last autumn’s the game testing phase was informative. It validated the potential of a action-packed game but indicated we still had work to do. It uncovered the necessity for a clearer identity.

It’s been inspiring to see how far you’ve advanced. You accepted the feedback to mind and reimagined the title with a refreshed goal - one that’s ready to achieve its potential to our audience.

The trust in Project ETHOS increases every day. To advance the remarkable development you’ve made, It is a pleasure to introduce the new hire as the latest Director of the team. Following a period of discussions, Ben starts with us on next week.

Ben’s leadership and background in the PVP shooter field is vast, having spent the past decade and a half producing and overseeing some of the most popular titles in gaming, including Call of Duty: Black Ops, and most recently, the battle royale hit.

I invite you all in greeting him next week. We are all excited to keep witnessing the progress of Project ETHOS in the months to follow.

The President

Experience of the New Leader

The appointee presently holds the position of senior developer and head of production at the renowned studio for their flagship title. Brinkman earlier was employed at major gaming companies in diverse production roles on the iconic franchise series, and, before that, had stints at other industry leaders.

Game Details and Vision

The upcoming game was unveiled in last year together with a public demo. Initially, the developers presented the game as a "no-cost, third-person perspective roguelike hero shooter and an exciting step forward on the genre."

"Build your perfect run—or die trying—in this 3rd-person action shooter! Build your hero in real-time to match your preferred approach," the description reads. "Take on the opponents with new abilities, risks, and challenges that evolve every round. Will you safely extract with your collected items? Or take a risk, risk it all, and trust your team can achieve the highest spot? The choice is in your hands."

Project Ethos has not yet received an official debut schedule or consoles, but players can anticipate additional details as creation continues.
